Botox is a prescription treatment for many conditions, and it can also be used to add a more youthful appearance by reducing fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Conditions treated include the following:

  • Muscle spasms or stiffness
  • Overactive bladder
  • Overactive underarm sweating
  • Migraine prevention
  • Incontinence

Of course, it is also widely used to treat wrinkles and lines due to muscular movements. It does not treat wrinkles due to gravity. When you need treatments, NextGen OMS is the best place to come for treatment by a certified head and neck surgeon who also performs cosmetic procedures.

Dr. Eftekhari can help you maintain the aesthetic that you desire with these treatments, another available treatment. By far, it has become the most popular option for safe treatment of sun exposure, fine lines due to aging and other events that damage your skin.

Schedule an initial visit to discuss your concerns with Dr. Eftekhari and learn about the treatment options available to you. Injections typically improve lines on your forehead, around the lips and between your eyes. They can also address wrinkles on the jowls and neck.

What Is Botox?

Botox treatments require no anesthesia, time off from work or treatment for scarring. For most patients, the treatment lasts only a few minutes and is performed in our office. Although results vary from person to person, many people find that the effects last between three to five months.

If you sweat excessively, Botox can help reduce the embarrassing side effects of your hyperhidrosis. Most insurance companies do not cover this treatment. However, NextGen OMS has convenient payment options to make things easier for our clients.

How Does it Feel?

Patients often express concerns about pain prior to signing up for treatments. We understand that having a needle injected into your face can cause apprehension. Most people report minor discomfort when getting the shot. You may not notice the shot much at all. If you have ever gotten acupuncture, the sensation is very similar.

For some clients, the injections hurt in certain areas of the phase more than others. To make the shot more comfortable, Dr. Eftekhari administers the injections quickly, and the entire procedure is usually done in a matter of seconds for each spot treated.

Some clients have an aversion for needles or a low tolerance for pain. If this applies to you, we can apply a numbing cream to the area as an extra precaution.

How Long Does Botox Last?

In a perfect world, you would get one shot and that would last you forever and keep you looking young and vibrant. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. It can work wonders but it’s not a miracle treatment. To maintain your fabulous results, you’ll need to come back in four to six months. For some people, it may be a little longer or a little shorter — it’s different for each client.

Some clients appreciate that it doesn’t require a huge commitment because it’s not permanent. If you like, you can try it out in one area of your face. If you don’t like the results, it will eventually wear off. For example, if you get an injection that lasts six months, it eventually wears off. Then, your skin goes back to its original condition. You can always come back to our Frisco, TX, office for regular treatments.

Does Botox Have Any Side Effects?

Like all procedures, there are certain risks associated with using Botox. However, these side effects are rare. After receiving the injection, you may have temporary swelling, redness or bruising at the injection site. Follow the instructions given to you by the doctor and everything should heal quickly.

It does not give you an expressionless, frozen face. Dr. Eftekhari is a board-certified surgeon and physician with many years of experience. He is very experienced in calculating the right amount of treatments that will give you the best possible results.

When you come to our office we get to know you and take your medical history prior to suggesting the best treatment to achieve your health and beauty goals.

Before your injection, you will make a series of dynamic expressive movements with your face. This helps the doctor evenly distribute the treatment to the targeted areas for maximum impact.

After the procedure, avoid rubbing or touching your face for two days. Massaging the area can cause the Botox to move around to other areas of your face, which could cause unanticipated asymmetry or numbness.

Follow the doctor’s instructions to avoid complications with your treatment, particularly if it’s the first time you are receiving an injection. Dr. Eftekhari recommends that you avoid strenuous exercise for the first day following the injection. Sleeping on your back may also help avoid any complications or movement pg from the injection site.

Avoid the Sun

To maximize the effect of treatments, avoid exposure to UV rays. This is good advice for your skin in any situation. UV rays can cause skin cancer, fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. None of these are great for your skin.

It paralyzes the muscles surrounding expression lines, but wrinkles caused by sun exposure will not respond to treatments. So, to help preserve your youthful look, avoid excessive sun on your skin.

Stay Hydrated

Maintain a healthy diet and drink lots of water to keep your skin looking smooth and beautiful. This is a great strategy to retain the benefits of treatments for several months.
