Dr. Eftekhari’s Credentials as a Head and Neck Surgeon

Dr. Eftekhari received his dental degree in 2009 from the University of Pennsylvania, then went on to complete a medical degree in 2012 at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. In 2015, he completed an Advanced Fellowship Training to earn his credential in head and neck surgery, including reconstructive surgery, at the John Peter Smith Medical Center in Fort Worth.

To solidify his skills as a head and neck surgeon, Dr. Eftekhari spent six years in residency training to hone his skills as a talented oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

What Does Head and Neck Surgery Include?

While general practitioners study the entire human body, other physicians specialize in particular areas. As the name suggests, head and neck surgeons concentrate on disorders of the head and neck region. This includes trauma, tumors and any other issues specific to this region of the body.

To become a surgeon, doctors must learn both non-surgical and surgical solutions to manage illnesses and disorders of the jaw, throat, face, head, neck, scalp, ears and nose.

Dr. Eftekhari can remove benign and malignant growths via nonsurgical and surgical treatments as well as various conditions that impact the dental structures and supporting tissue in your mouth and jaw.

Advanced Training for Head and Neck Surgeon

To become a head and neck surgeon, doctors complete five years of intensive study. The first step is passing medical school and then they complete a residency in their specialty. This includes nine months of surgical training.

Through this special training, surgeons gain the experience they need to conduct complex surgery on delicate structures such as the tongue, parathyroid gland, salivary gland, thyroid gland, nose, ears, scalp and face. You can also see a surgeon when you need a doctor who specializes in cancers and other tumors on your head or neck.

At NextGen OMS, our advanced equipment enables Dr. Eftekhari to complete procedures with minimally invasive techniques. The doctor also stays up to date on what’s going on in the field through his association with various professional boards. Because Dr. Eftekhari has such wide experience, patients referred to us seldom have to go to multiple specialists.

Services Available from a Head and Neck Surgeon

Specialists in the head and neck region gather important information about each patient’s medical history and the specific reason that brought them to the office. We may begin with non-surgical treatments to help alleviate your condition. However, sometimes surgery becomes necessary. If you do require surgery, you can rest assured that you are in good hands. Dr. Eftekhari has many years’ experience treating pathologies and performing reconstructive surgery. The doctor can also perform cosmetic procedures after you have a mass removed.

Dr. Eftekhari examines and diagnoses lumps, lesions, abscesses and other issues in the ear, nose, mouth and other facial features. If you have an overactive or underactive thyroid or parathyroid, the doctor may perform surgery after medical alternatives to resolve the issue fail.

Glands located throughout the head and neck require special treatment and clinical care when something goes wrong. Dr. Eftekhari Has helped hundreds of patients with glandular issues such as tumors, infections and stones. As a head and neck surgeon, he can also treat issues with your tonsils and throat.
